Mission

Our mission is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Everything in life is meant to grow out of love.

The world was created out of love by a God who loves us and invites us to love back. Commitment to Jesus is following him in our everyday lives, becoming part of his ministry of love in the world, and seeing what we do as part of the bigger picture of God's work in the world. This is more important than our building, our form (or forms) of worship, or our system of government. It is the overarching principle, the driving force, behind all we do and are. We try some things that work and some things that fail. We learn, grow, and go on. In all things, though, we seek to deepen our relationships with Jesus. In the context of our community and world, we try to open the door for others to connect with Jesus. In so doing, we find that we connect even more deeply with him.

We see Jesus all around us. We know that he is at work in the world long before we get involved. Because we believe he is at work in the world, our prayer is

Lord, give us the eyes to see what you are doing in our community and world, and the heart to join with you in doing it.

Expecting to meet Jesus in our neighbors helps us to see the world with different eyes. It also makes each day, each moment, a journey toward discovering Jesus in places we might never have guessed.
